A straightforward Vietnamese kitchen in the middle of the tourist quarter, useful when the group cannot agree.

Golden Rice does a broad Vietnamese menu — Hue dishes alongside food from elsewhere in the country — in a comfortable room on Pham Ngu Lao.

It is not the most characterful meal in the city and it does not pretend to be. What it is, reliably, is somewhere with an English menu, air conditioning and something everyone will eat, which on a fourth evening in Hue is worth a good deal.
